The Frederic Remington Art Museum will be offering a four part “Portfolio Building for Developing Artists” class taught by local artist Julie Pratt. The classes will be held on four Mondays, July 9, July 23, July 30, and August 6, from 10 am to noon at the Museum’s Eva Caten Remington Education Center in Ogdensburg. Whether a budding artist, a student considering art school, or an artist seeking to build a career, every artist needs a portfolio. This four session class is designed to develop a variety of skills in a range of media. The class begins with exercises to develop observational drawing skills as a foundation. Then the class will explore a number of media, including conté crayon, charcoal, pen and pencil and more. Participants will walk away with several completed pieces that can be added to their portfolios or can be used to start one. The classes will be taught at the Eva Caten Remington Education Center, 323 Washington Street, Ogdensburg. Teens and adults of all skill levels are welcome, and materials will be provided, though artists are welcome to bring their own materials if they prefer. The cost for the series of four classes is $60 for members of the Remington Museum and $100 for non-members. The class is limited to 12 participants.
